Ashanilaya Vridhashram – Activity Report 2023-2024

Ashanilaya Vridhashram has continued its mission of providing care and support to poor and abandoned women during the financial year 2023-2024. The centre has been a sanctuary for many elderly women, offering them dignity, compassion, and a sense of belonging in their later years.

Care Provided:

This year, Ashanilaya Vridhashram cared for 27 inmates. Sadly, we lost three of our residents: Mrs. Taruna Kanik, a long-time resident of 14 years, passed away due to breast cancer despite extensive medical treatments, including surgery, chemotherapy, and medication. Two other inmates succumbed to age-related complications. May their souls rest in peace, and may the Lord bless them with eternal reward.Currently, the Vridhashram houses 17 residents, 10 of whom are undergoing psychiatric treatment. These residents receive monthly check-ups and medication from Banganga Government Hospital. Additionally, every six months, doctors and staff from CHL Apollo Hospital visit the centre for medical check-ups of all inmates and staff, providing free medicines under the “Billion Hearts Beating” Foundation, a public charitable trust of which we are proud beneficiaries.

Ashanilaya Vridhashram continues to foster a sense of joy and togetherness through celebrations of major festivals and significant days. This year, we organized events for Holi, Diwali, Christmas, Environment Day, and Senior Citizens Day. These occasions included get-togethers and outings, bringing smiles to the faces of our residents.
