Miss. Ajothya Baria
Ajothya was born in 1992 to Mr.Roopsingh and Sita Baria in Kaneria village of Manpur Taluk, Indore District. The family is living by cultivating in a small field of their own and during summer move on to other places for daily wages. Ajothya has 6 sisters and 4 brothers. Ajothya is born with cerebral palsy and her brother Rajkumar is affected with Polio and has become Disabled person. Due to poverty the family could not afford to educate their children and provide medical facility.
Through constant visit and family counselling the parents agreed to send his son Rajkumar for income generating programme to rare goats and completed vocational training in Welding and painting. From that time he was independent of himself and occasionally helped the family by providing provision. In 2001 we conducted awareness programme in their village and Ajothya was brought to the camp carried in a basket by her father. We initiated the medical check-up and follow-up treatment and physiotherapy by accommodating her in our Ashanilaya Rehabilitation centre at Rangwasa along with few other Differently abled children who were supported by Janvikas Samithi project (Lilliane Stitching Fond –Netherlands.
In 2004 Ajothya underwent surgery of Abductor, contractor excision deformity of both the legs. After a month of hospitalization, she was improving with the help of physiotherapy and speech therapy. In 2005 she was provided with the calliper and started to walk slowly, doing her personal works by herself. She and her family were happy to see her health improvement. Though she manages her daily activities still she was in need of long term follow up programme so she remained with us in our centre and learned knitting and stitching and helps in our herbal centre to prepare medicines. When the family noticed that she is taken good care by the centre they come to meet her only on special occasions like Rakhi etc. Ajothya also got adjusted to her way of living and did not go back home and wanted to remain with us.
